welcome

Hello! I am Samantha, the doula and educator behind Into Motherhood.

After becoming a mum myself, I realised how quickly a mother’s emotions can be overlooked in the medical environment. Everyone’s focus is understandably on getting the baby here safely, but when a woman feels scared, unsupported or overwhelmed during labour, her body responds to that too. Often, this may cause the baby’s descent to slow down, heightened pain as fear increases adrenaline and contractions can slow down.

The amazing medical team’s role is to keep mother and baby physically safe.

My role as a doula is to help the mother feel emotionally safe, as labour is deeply hormonal and instinctive, and the nervous system plays a huge role. I support both physiological and medicated approaches to birthing a child, and understand the importance of both. As your doula, I will work with you to find what works best for you
and your needs.

Let me support and guide you through all the emotions and adventures of pregnancy, birth and postpartum, as you step Into Motherhood xx
